THE SEA CLOUD OF OKINAWA

Off the coral reefs of Okinawa grows a brown seaweed the Japanese call mozuku — "the sea cloud" — for the way it drifts in slow currents. It produces fucoidan, a sulphated polysaccharide making up about 4% of its dry weight, which the seaweed uses to coat and protect its own fronds.

NANOENCAPSULATION, SOLVED IN JAPAN

Polysaccharides like fucoidan tend to clump in solution, which limits absorption. The patented NANO Fucoidan® technology, developed by Hayashikane, embeds the fucoidan in lipid-shell nanocapsules of 100–1,000 nanometres — mimicking natural cell membranes and preventing aggregation.

A SEAWEED HERITAGE BLEND

Alongside the mozuku: ascophyllan from North Atlantic Ascophyllum nodosum, bovine lactoferrin — the glycoprotein abundant in colostrum — and four vegetables from the everyday Japanese kitchen: gagome kombu from Hokkaido, nori, hijiki and wakame. Bioperine® completes the formula.
